Fall 2011 Mix

Here is a mix of new things that have come out in the past couple of months and that I’ve been enjoying. It’s a pretty eclectic mix of tracks–from the impossibly smooth and foreboding “Mirage,” by Ladytron, to the intimate, simple “Benediction” (Thurston Moore). There’s also a quick and merciless dose of noisy punk from Leather and The Men, followed by the charmingly capricious “Revolution Wavers” (Psychedelic Horseshit). Download and have a listen.

1. Midnight City: M83

2. Mirage: Ladytron

3. Peeping Tomboy: Kurt Vile

4. Benediction: Thurston Moore

5. Idolator: Leather

6. L.A.D.O.C.H.: The Men

7. Revolution Wavers: Psychedelic Horseshit

8. Water People: Grouper

9. Two Hearts Are Better Than One: Des Ark

A few weeks ago, Sean, Denman, and I saw Frank (just Frank) play at a Wierd Records night in NYC. They have an amazing sound, and surprisingly enough, it was one of the best sets I’ve seen in 2011. Here’s my favorite track off their 2010 record The Brutal Wave.

Hi I’m Emma. I’m blogging now too. I might be posting fairly frequently because I spend 7 hours a day at a cubicle with only a curmudgeonly PC to keep me company. I also blog here as well, so check it out: apachefashion.blogspot.com

Anyways, this is a track off the new Gang Gang Dance LP, Eye Contact (released on 4AD). It rules. A lot.
